Report acknowledges challenges and opportunities for manufacturing
September 25, 2012

Curiously titled – Report of the Non-Government Members – and subtitled “Smarter Manufacturing for a Smarter Australia” The Prime Ministers Taskforce report on Manufacturingis said to reflect the critical challenges facing the sector and the opportunities for manufacturing in the coming years.  The Taskforce was established last year as job losses began to accelerate

The report acknowledges that manufacturing is an essential component of a balanced and diversified economy as it drives technological change and innovation and contributes to our external trade position. However, the report also recognises that while technology innovation is closely linked to manufacturing success, particularly in high tech industries, non-technological innovation is just as important if not more so for low and medium tech industries, which make up the bulk of manufacturing in advanced economies, including Australia. A copy of the fascinating report can be found at this link.
